Why Sorane

Sorane grew out of my own practice routine and the friction around it: keeping track of what I worked on and what comes next, getting back to the right BPM, setting up the metronome, or searching for drumless backing tracks online to play against.

Hopefully, Sorane takes care of those little practice chores. The idea is simple: less fiddling, less remembering, less setup, and more time actually playing.

The Name

Sorane is a stylized form of "sora no ne", written in Japanese as "空の音", which means "sound of the sky". It is a small tribute to a product I worked on last year and the great team I built it with, as well as a poetic name that reminded me of the "language of the world".

In Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, a shepherd boy learns the "language of the world" by following his dreams and listening to his heart in search of treasure. "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it". I hope we all find our treasure in this world.
